It is alleged that Yonkers resident Jose Angel Pabellon walked into the Shell gas station on Crompond Road (Route 202) in Yorktown shortly before 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24, with two others, with the intent to steal cigarettes.

Police said that his cohorts distracted the gas station attendant, while Pabellon allegedly went behind the counter, stole five cartons of cigarettes and five loose packs of cigarettes with a value of approximately $850. They then fled in a vehicle.

According to police, the investigation led to Pabellon, his co-conspirators and the vehicle they fled in. On Saturday, Nov. 30, the Yorktown Police Department received a 911 hang-up call from the same gas station, after the same vehicle was seen at the station, prompting further investigation.

Upon arrival, investigators located the same vehicle that was identified as Pabellon’s that was used in the previous robbery, and he was arrested.

At Yorktown Police Headquarters, Pabellon was charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor, and later released. He is scheduled to appear back in Yorktown Justice Court on Tuesday, Jan. 7 next year to respond to the charge.
